2027 New Staff Application

Thank you for completing the M28 Staff Interest Form and taking the first step toward serving with us for Summer 2027! After reviewing your Interest Form, we are excited to invite you to continue in the M28 Summer Staff selection process.

This Application is designed to help us get to know you more deeply - your faith, your leadership experience, your personality, your experience working with students, and the ways God is currently working in your life. We want to understand not only what you can bring to the M28 team, but also how we can help you grow as a follower of Jesus and as a leader.

Serving on the M28 Summer Staff is a ministry commitment, not simply a summer job. Our Counselors have the opportunity to invest deeply in the lives of students through D-Groups, worship, workshops, recreation, and everyday relationships. Because of the influence our staff have on students, we are looking for college students who are committed to following Jesus, growing in their faith, serving others, receiving feedback, and leading with humility.

We also believe that God uses the summer to transform our staff. You will be challenged to grow spiritually, relationally, and as a leader while serving alongside a team of people who are pursuing Jesus together. Our hope is that you won't simply leave M28 with great memories, but that you will leave knowing Jesus more deeply, understanding yourself more clearly, and being better equipped to serve His Kingdom.

After Applications have been reviewed, selected applicants will be invited to participate in an interview. From there, our M28 team will prayerfully select the Summer 2027 Staff.

SUMMER PROGRAM

June 21–July 14, 2027
Lake Junaluska, North Carolina
New staff will arrive at Lake Junaluska on June 21, 2027, at 4:00 PM for Staff Training and preparation for the summer.
Compensation: $550 total, plus housing, meals, and staff excursions.

This position requires a full commitment from June 21–July 14, 2027, including Staff Training Every Monday in May-June at 7:30p, Awakening Project on May 17-21, 2027, and all five M28 Summer Camp sessions. Staff Training and Strengthening will prepare our team spiritually, relationally, and practically for the weeks ahead. Come ready to serve, grow, lead, and give your summer to Jesus.

JOB DESCRIPTION

M28 is looking for college students who are actively seeking the Lord, pursuing a growing relationship with Jesus, and committed to practicing spiritual disciplines as they grow in their faith. Our Counselors are an essential part of the M28 experience and help create an environment where students can encounter Jesus, grow in their faith, and build meaningful relationships.

Throughout the summer, Counselors may serve in a variety of ways, including:

  • Leading D-Groups (Discipleship Groups)

  • Helping set the tone for worship as students enter the building

  • Assisting with and leading workshops

  • Building meaningful relationships with students and adult leaders

  • Helping set up and prepare for worship sessions

  • Participating in games, recreation, and other camp activities

  • Serving wherever needed to help create an excellent camp experience

  • Leading and serving as spiritual leaders for younger students

D-Groups are one of the most important responsibilities of an M28 Counselor. Counselors lead a D-Group of approximately 12–14 students following evening worship sessions. These groups provide students with an opportunity to process what they have heard, study God's Word, ask honest questions, grow in discipleship, and learn to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit. Counselors will receive curriculum that corresponds with the evening worship sessions and will be equipped to lead meaningful conversations and help students take the next step in their faith.

HOUSING & MEALS

In addition to compensation, housing and meals will be provided during M28 events. Male and female staff will have separate housing provided on the grounds or near where events are held.

Staff are responsible for transportation to and from each event. M28 will provide opportunities for staff to carpool when possible.
